Case Study: Facilitated Online Learning

Ana has worked for an international company for two years and has recently moved into a management position.  She has been asked to complete an online course called “Motivating Your Team”.  This is a mandatory course for all new team leaders. The course is three months in length and starts the first of next month.

20 new managers from the company are registered for the course.

The course includes assignments and quizzes that Ana will be expected to complete independently.  She has been told that she will receive feedback from the facilitator on her assignments but the quizzes are self-marking. Ana isn’t expected to work on a group assignment because of time zone challenges, however she is expected to post comments/opinions in the discussion forums.

Ana sees this as a great way to learn new skills as well as a perfect opportunity to establish a network of contacts in the company.
